IH 20 from FM 148 to Spur 557 and Spur 557 from FM 148 to IH 20 - Public Meeting

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will conduct a Public Meeting on Thursday, October 24, 2013, for the proposed improvements to Interstate 20 (I-20) from Farm-to-Market 148 (FM 148) to Spur 557 and Spur 557 from FM 148 to I-20 in Kaufman County, Texas.

The purpose of the Public Meeting is to present the proposed roadway improvements within this 1.5-mile long section of I-20 and Spur 557. The Public Meeting with be an “open house” format and will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the City of Terrell Service Center Training Room located at 400 Industrial Boulevard, Terrell, Texas 75160 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. TxDOT staff, the City of Terrell, and its consulting engineers and planners will be available in an informal setting to answer questions during the meeting.

The proposed project is needed to provide additional accessibility within the project limits, and to support current and future growth of industrial, commercial and residential developments in the project vicinity. The proposed project would construct a new frontage road along westbound I-20 from FM 148 to Spur 557and along eastbound Spur 557 from FM 148 to I-20. The proposed frontage road would consist of one 12-foot-wide inside lane and one 14-foot-wide outside lane for use by both vehicles and bicycles. Curb and gutter with typical curb offsets of two feet would be included, with a 6-foot-wide sidewalk offset from back of curb. Approximately 4.65 acres of additional ROW and 1.00 acre of easements would be needed to accommodate the proposed roadway improvements and drainage. There are no crossings of jurisdictional waters of the U.S. within the project limits.
