I-35W Frontage Roads from Eagle Parkway to SH 114 - Public Hearing

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Northwest High School Cafeteria/Student Union Area, 2301 Texan Drive, Justin, Texas 76247. The purpose of the Public Hearing is to present the proposed roadway improvements for I-35W from Eagle Parkway to SH 114 in Denton County, Texas, and to receive public comment. Displays will be available for viewing at 6:00 P.M. with the formal hearing commencing at 7:00 P.M.
The existing facility within this section of I-35 is a four-lane divided roadway with two 12-foot lanes in each direction with shoulders ranging in width from 4-to 10-feet in width, and no frontage roads. The existing I-35 roadway facility has a typical right of way (ROW) width of 300-feet.
The proposed project would include the construction of one way frontage roads, two lanes in each direction, both northbound and southbound, consisting of a 14-foot outside lane and one 12-foot inside lane, with 2-foot wide curb offsets each. The proposed project would also include the reconstruction and relocation of exit and entrance ramps for the project area. A five-foot wide sidewalk would be provided along the proposed northbound and southbound frontage roads. The proposed sidewalks would meet ADA design criteria. The proposed project would be constructed in two phases: Phase I – construct 2-lane southbound frontage road with ramp modifications; and, Phase II – construct 2-lane northbound frontage road with ramp modifications. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide system linkage along I-35W in this part of northwest Forth Worth, Texas. The length of the proposed project is approximately 2.2 miles. The proposed improvements would require approximately 27.2 acres of additional right of way and 0.1 acres of drainage easement. No residential or commercial property displacements or relocations would be required. The proposed project includes work within a FEMA-designated 100-year floodplain. The hydraulic design for the proposed project would be in accordance with current TxDOT and FHWA design policies and standards.
