Kaufman County, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) as the lead agency, is proposing
to construct a new location bypass for FM 148 from south of FM 3039 to US 175 in the City of Crandall, Kaufman County,
Texas. This notice advises the public that a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) is available for public review and that
TxDOT will be conducting a Public Hearing on the proposed project. The hearing will be held on Thursday, August
23, 2018 in the L.F. Raynes Board Room, Crandall Independent School District, 400 West Lewis Street, Crandall,
TX 75114. Displays will be available for viewing at 6:00 p.m. with the formal hearing starting at 7:00 p.m. The purpose
of the hearing is to present the planned improvements and to receive public comment on the proposed project.

The proposed FM 148 Bypass would construct a new location rural roadway connecting FM 148 with US 175 that would
bypass the urban center of the City of Crandall. This bypass would be 1.6 miles long and would consist of two 12-foot
wide travel lanes (one lane in each direction) with 8-foot wide outside shoulders, and turn lanes. At the northern terminus,
the proposed project would have at-grade connections with US 175 frontage roads, improvements to which have been
proposed by others.
