FM 1641 from FM 548 to FM 148 and FM 548 from FM 1641 to US 80 - Public Meeting

Purpose:
The purpose of the public meeting is to solicit comments on proposed improvements to Farm-to Market Road (FM) 1641 from FM 548 to FM 148 and to FM 548 from FM 1641 to U.S. Highway (US) 80. The meeting will be held in an open house format. Maps will be available for viewing at the public meeting. Representatives from TxDOT and project consultants will be available to answer questions. Comments must be received on or before Friday, July 26, 2019, to be a part of the official record.
Description:
The FM 1641 reconstruction project includes widening approximately 0.2 miles of FM 548 and approximately 5.4 miles of FM 1641. The existing FM 548 is a 4-lane urban roadway, and the existing FM 1641 is a rural 2-lane roadway. Both roadways would be reconstructed to an urban 4-lane (ultimate 6-lane) section with turn lanes. A raised median would be added, and 14-foot wide shared-use lanes to accommodate bicycles and 6-foot wide sidewalks would be added in each direction. The existing right-of-way (ROW) width is approximately 90 feet wide. The proposed project ROW width would be approximately 130 feet wide. Approximately 20.3 acres of new ROW and 3.0 acres of proposed permanent drainage easements would be required to accommodate the proposed improvements.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
