FM 3549 from IH 30 to SH 66 - Public Hearing

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in conjunction with Rockwall County, will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at the Eastridge Church of Christ, 670 N. Stodghill Rd., Rockwall, Texas 75087. The purpose of the hearing is to present the planned improvements for FM 3549 from IH 30 to north of SH 66 in the cities of Fate and Rockwall, Rockwall County, Texas, and to receive public comment. Displays will be available for viewing at 6:00 p.m. with the formal hearing commencing at 7:00 p.m.
The existing facility consists of one 11-foot wide travel lane in each direction with no shoulders. A left-turn lane is currently provided at the Eastridge Church of Christ and Airport Road. The existing typical right-of-way (ROW) width is 80 feet.
The proposed project would widen this section of FM 3549 from two to four lanes with one 12-foot wide travel lane; one 14-foot wide outside lane to accommodate bicycles; one-foot wide inside and two-foot outside offsets to a concrete curb; and five-foot wide sidewalks in each direction separated by an 18-foot wide raised median. The median would accommodate additional left-turn lanes which would be provided at select intersections. The proposed typical ROW width would be 120 feet. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide capacity for ongoing suburbanization, improve the efficiency of FM 3549, and to eliminate safety issues created by a lack of left-turn lanes. The proposed improvements would require approximately 4.322 acres of additional ROW, 0.553 acre for a drainage easement, and 0.172 acre for a construction easement. The proposed project would displace one residence and a barn. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program, benefits and services for displacees, as well as information about the tentative schedule for ROW acquisition and construction may be obtained from the TxDOT Dallas District Office. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses.
