ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS

Beginning in 1998, TxDOT utilized the Major Investment Study (MIS) process to identify problems and needs within the corridor.  Public input was solicited from state, local, and regional agencies involved in transportation and comprehensive planning in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) region, as well as from local communities.  Since 2003 three EAs have been drafted and are in various stages of development.

IH 35E North:

The Draft EA has been reviewed by TxDOT ENV and FHWA.  FHWA concurred that this project was Satisfactory for Further Processing and a public hearing will be conducted Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the University of North Texas Gateway Center, located at 801 North Texas Boulevard, Denton, TX 76201. After the public hearing, the Final EA and Public Hearing Summary and Analysis will be prepared.

IH 35E Middle:

This EA including the Draft Nationwide 4(f) Evaluations for Net Benefit to Section 4(f) Property have been reviewed by TxDOT ENV, the U.S. Army of Corps of Engineers (USACE) and FHWA.  FHWA concurred that this project was Satisfactory for Further Processing on October 14, 2010 and a public hearing was conducted on November 18, 2010. After the public hearing, the EA, Net Benefit Evaluations, and Public Hearing Summary and Analysis were reviewed by FHWA and USACE.  A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was issued by FHWA on January 28, 2011.  Because the USACE is a cooperating agency for this project, a FONSI was also issued by USACE.  The EA, Net Benefit Evaluations and the FONSI documents can be reviewed at the links below.

IH 35E South:

The Draft EA has been reviewed by TxDOT ENV and FHWA.  FHWA concurred that this project was Satisfactory for Further Processing and a public hearing was conducted on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the R.L. Turner High School Auditorium, located at 1600 S. Josey lane, Carrolton, TX 75006. The Final EA has been completed and is now posted. The Public Hearing Summary and Analysis will be prepared and posted soon.
